


Dr. Ng Chau-pei, Chairman of HKFTU, and the Honourable CHENG Yiu-tong, GBM, GBS, JP., Honorary President of HKFTU, were successfully re-elected to be one of the 36 Hong Kong deputies to the 13th National People's Congress (NPC).

The HKFTU organized 3,000 volunteers to visit Ngong Shuen Chau Barracks as a celebration of Hong Kong SAR's 20th Anniversary.

The HKFTU District Service Centre held a gala dinner to celebrate its establishment 25 years ago with over 5,000 guests and volunteers.

The HKFTU donated HKD300,000 and HKD200,000 respectively to the injured brothers and sisters in accidents in Si Chuan and Xin Jiang.

To celebrate Hong Kong SAR's 20th Anniversary, the HKFTU designed a tailor-made tram and arranged tours for Hong Kong citizens to join the joyful moments. On 7th of July, we welcome the Liaoning, China's first operational aircraft carrier, and its accompanying warships to start their five-day maiden port call in Hong Kong.

On the 50 anniversary of the 1967 fighting against the oppressive colonial-rule of the British ,the HKFTU members joined at memorial service for those fellow workers who died during that period.

On Labour Day, the HKFTU trade unions’ members participated in the march to present a petition to the government to improve the MPF “offsetting” mechanism, “unify” the statutory and public holidays, increase the paternity leave entitlement and prolong the paid maternity leaves.

More than 20 Hong Kong tourists were injured in an accident in Jiangxi Jing Gang Shan. The HKFTU Mainland Consultation Services Centre arrived to the site immediately and offered prompt assistance to the injured tourists.

Between 15 and 18 Feb 2017, the HKFTU hold “Seminars for 2017 Chief Executive Election” for the members of trade unions and all districts to meet the chief executive candidates, know their policies and visions of governance.

The Chief Executive’s Policy Address will soon be announced. The HKFTU has demanded the government to scrap the MPF “offsetting” mechanism on 15 Jan. In May 2017, The HKFTU has taken further action and urge the government to improve the arrangement for “offsetting” severance payment/long service payment with Mandatory Provident Fund contribution.
